Holes Movie Review

In 2003, Walt Disney produced yet another fantastic family film, Holes. The Film was Directed by Andrew Davis and co-directed by the writer of the official novel, Louis Sachar. Andrew Davis has directed films more for an older audience with such films as: Collateral Damage, Under Siege and A Perfect Murder, as Holes was his first movie faced at a younger audience, he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The Plot

The story begins in Texas where a young boy Stanley Yelnats IV is in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is sent to ‘CAMP GREEN LAKE’ (a facility for troubled youth) for a crime he never committed. This was because of an age old curse on his family through a long line of Yelnats, it only affects the men of the family.

The subplot

During the film there’s two other stories going on. One of which is about how they are not digging to build character, but something more. The other is of how the curse came upon their family and in the main plot is about how it is broken.

Camp Green Lake

Whilst at Camp Green Lake Stanley encounters many characters soon to become his friends, such as: X-ray (Brenden Jefferson), Armpit (Byron Cotton), Zero (Khleo Thomas), Zig-Zag (Max Kasch), Magnet (Miguel castro) and squid(Jake .M. Smith). During the sentence he runs away with his friend Zero and breaks the curse.

The story has a great plot and it was thoroughly enjoyable, a must see for the whole family.
I would rate it with 4 ½ stars
