Holes Movie Review

Our new friend Stanley Yelnats IV (Shia LaBeouf) has been sent to Camp Green Lake, a Juvenile correction centre, for a crime he never committed, there he has to dig a hole “five feet deep and five feet wide” the size of his shovel meeting new friends on his way.
His friends help him overcome this experience Zero, Armpit (Byron Cotton) X-ray (Brenden Jefferson) and Zigzag (Matt Kacsh). Are they digging to build character or for something else? A home run for Lois Sachar (based on his award winning novel) .

Relatively new actor Shia LaBeouf has been in Dumb and Dumberer and the recent film Transformers, grabs the bull by the horns of this film and does it well.
The actors of the adults are horrible - they act as if the film is for two year olds very cheesy!

This film is very much like the book but with the touch of Disney such as the missing out of obesity and death but it pushes the boat out (on the lake!) by making a film about child offenders.

If you are still thinking this film is not for you try it, it will grow on you, a great performance from the young actors of this film.

2½ stars
