Year 8 Ballads

Year 8 have been writing poems and here are some recent examples.

On Sunday last,
at Moses Gate,
On my dirt bike,
I jumped too late.

But though I was in pain
I was there again

My bike it fell
and I crashed
The bike was twisted
I was smashed

But though I was in pain
I was there again

I fell to the ground
Like a bag of stones
Off to the Hospital
With several Broken Bones

But though I was in pain
I was there again.

BANG BANG BANG!!!
Go shots from the sniper,
It hit the driver,
Right in the head,

BOOM BOOM BOOM
goes the Bomb,
The others lost
Their legs

SMASH CRASH SMASH
The car goes tumbling
It left the road
Crashed into a tree

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!
Goes the bomb
One pull of the trigger
From back to the front

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!
Goes the bomb
Everyone's dead
War causes blood - red

My Grandad David
was his name
he was in the army
amazingly, he survived the raid

MY GRANDAD DAVID IS THE ONE

My Grandad David
likes football
He was the biggest fan
Of them all

MY GRANDAD DAVID IS THE ONE

My Grandad David
is the best
he is the one
who puts up the
football nets

MY GRANDAD DAVID IS THE ONE

My Grandad David
Cares for me
He takes me fishing
Which brings me glee

MY GRANDAD DAVID IS THE ONE

Daniel Rathburn

In his 70s, George passed away,
In my mind this was a sad day,
He was always a person that liked to smile,
But women drivers, he'd run a mile.

HIS FAVOURITE LINE WAS "YOU PLANK OF WOOD
STOP DRIVING! DO ME SOME GOOD"

Drinking Whiskey in a small glass
In his bedroom, time he'd pass
He'd go upstairs to get some peace
Would sit on the bed and leave a crease

HIS FAVOURITE LINE WAS "YOU PLANK OF WOOD
STOP DRIVING! DO ME SOME GOOD!"

Off he went to go fly fishing
Swoosh Swoosh the line went swishing
the fly dropped in the river
but women drivers made him shiver

My Grandma Lillian
was one in a million

THE GREATEST GRANDMA IN THE WORLD

She took me for walks
We had lots of talks

THE GREATEST GREANDMA IN THE WORLD

She bought me sweets
and lots of treats

THE GREATEST GRANDMA IN THE WORLD

She taught me how to ride my bike
She showed me how to fly a kite

THE GREATEST GRANDMA IN THE WORLD

A soldier's life is not for all

A soldier's life must be willing to give all

So if I die here in this hell hole

Tell my children I died a hero

As I stand here on the battlefield alone

All I can think about is going home

My feet are heavy, my mouth is dry

So if I die here in this hell hole

Tell my children I died a hero.

I think of all the people I killed

I wonder if it was their own will

So if I die here in this hell hole

Tell my children I died a hero

The pride of my people is what I earn

The heat of the machine gun is starting to burn

Everyday I ask God for protection

So if I die here in this hell hole

Tell my children I died a hero.

The Dog FIght

Shoot me not

It's not my fault

I was not the one who abused me so

And I did not hurt you, but you hurt me.

SHOOT ME NOT - IT'S NOT MY FAULT

And now they say it's all my fault

And you give me the only way out

But don't blame us and forgive us

In our final battle to the death

Shoot me not, it's not my fault

Now my fairy is a friend Mary

Looking down from the sky

I will always remember her

as each day passes by.

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HER

Now God has a v ery special

'Fairy in Heaven' Her name is

'Mary the Special Fairy'

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HER

As time passes by,

I do not cry,

I say a little prayer

For she knows I care

....and always will

I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HER

Relatives - Passed Away

My Grandad Tom he is a star

But now he is so very far

I LOVE MY GRANDAD TOM

Now he's gone and left me here

I can only shed a tear

I LOVE MY GRANDAD TOM

I look up at the stars at night

And see the only one that's shining bright

I LOVE MY GRANDAD TOM
